Mattoon High School principal tabbed next superintendent of Kansas CUSD #3
Richard Stuart will finish out the school year before taking on the new role
MATTOON, Ill. (WAND) – Mattoon High School Principal Richard Stuart was announced as the next superintendent of Kansas CUSD #3.
Kansas Unit #3 is a district in Kansas, Illinois, about 10 miles southwest of Paris in Edgar County.
Mattoon Community Unit School District 2 issued a “heartfelt thank you” on Facebook Thursday for everything Stuart did at MHS.
“We look forward to finishing out the 2026-27 school year with you and are excited to see all you will accomplish in the next step of your career,” said Mattoon District 2 in the post.
The Unit #3 Board of Education said in a letter that it looks forward to introducing Stuart as he helps lead the district “into its next chapter.”
“We believe Mr. Stuart will bring valuable experience, perspective and leadership to our district, while embracing the close-knit relationships and sense of community that make Kansas CUSD #3 special,” the district said.
